James Orrin Perkins, youngest son of Solomon Perkins was born at Athol, Warren county, New York, March 18, 1852 and died at his home in Franklin township, Wednesday, April 22, 1914, aged 62 years, one month and four days. Mr. Perkins came to Iowa with his parents in the year 1867 and settled in Franklin township where he has lived all his life. He was married to Callista Clark on Sept. 17, 1884, and this union was blessed with one child, Mrs. Edna Bollman of Forest Mills. Besides the wife and daughter, Mr. Perkins is survived by one brother, Oliver of Granger, Minnesota, and two sisters, Mrs. Orpha Clark of Luana and Mrs. Lottie Dickson of Waukon. The funeral was held Friday afternoon at one o'clock from the United Brethern church at Forest Mills, Rev. A. E. Hursh of Castalia officiating and in the Smithfield cemetery he was laid to rest to await the judgement call.
