Caroline (Ebersohl) Bieber was born in Hombach, Alsace, France, Feb. 28, 1837. She was married to Philip Bieber the summer of 1856, he dying in Lansing on April 1, 1881. The young couple emigrated to America via Strassburg, leaving Alsace a few months after their marriage. Arriving at New Orleans in November of the year 1856, they took a boat for Lansing and by boat and rail reached this city on December 6th of that year. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Bieber moved to Fort Atkinson in 1890, where for years her son has been one of the leading business men, and she has ever since made that her home. The body was shipped to Lansing and burial was at Oak Hill on Tuesday afternoon.
