Viola Olivia Doudney, 90, Postville, Iowa, died Saturday, January 21, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. Viola was born on August 30, 1921, in Allamakee County to John and Clara Olivia (Bulman) White. She attended country school near Forest Mills.

Viola was united in marriage to Harold Doudney on October 27, 1945, in Waukon, Iowa. Three daughters were born to this union. Viola farmed alongside Harold for many years. She also made custom drapes for her brother, Howard, in Iowa City and Schutte Furniture Store in Postville for several years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing and raising her family.

Survivors include her two daughters, Joyce Olivia (Doug) Fields, Independence, KY, Jane Marie Doudney (special friend, Diane Routt), Amboy, WA; four grandchildren, Benjamin Fields, Bethany Fields, Daniel Fields, Rebecca Fields; two great-grandchildren, Owen Riley Fields, Liam Grayson Fields; three siblings, Lee (Ruth) White, Postville, Howard (Martha) White, Longmont, CO, John (Sharon) White, Jr., Postville and two sister-in-laws, Shirley White, Marion, IA, and Dorothy White, Grand Rapids, MI.

Viola was preceded in death by husband, Harold Doudney in 1993; daughter, Maryan Doudney in 2007; parents, John and Clara White and two brothers, Milton White and Linton White.

Memorials may be directed to the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012, from 12 – 2 pm at the Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Postville, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 2:00 pm at the Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Duane Smith will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa.

Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
