Waukon, Ia. - The cremated remains of Mrs. Dora Brown Ried, about 80, Santa Barbara, Calif., were received here and interred beside those of her husband, Charles Ried, in Oakland Cemetery, Tuesday.

Mrs. Ried, as Dora Brown, was born in Waukon, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Lew Barris, of Waukon, who died several years later.

She was a saleslady in Oelwein, where her sister, the late Mrs. Anna Brown Henderson, lived for a number of years. Later, she married Charles Ried, of Waukon, and they resided in Santa Barbara, where Mr. Ried died.

~Dubuque Telegraph-Herald, Friday evening edition, August 18, 1944

~Notes:
Compiled marriage records found on the Allamakee co. website is the newspaper announcement of the 1889 marriage of Louis Barris, of Norfolk, Neb. to Dora E. Brown of Waukon.

"Woodmansee" cemetery records include the burial of Dora Reid in Oakland Main (note the spelling difference from the obituary), but not the burial of Charles Ried with either spelling. "Woodmansee" gives her dates as 1868-1944.

Burial place of Louis 'Lew' Barris is unknown to the obit contributor.

Charles Lewis Reid, born 1869 and died 1939 Dec. 16.

There was an obit in the Waukon Democrat. Charles died in Santa Barbara, California. He was cremated before being sent to Iowa.
I do not have any info on Lew Barris.
