Waukon, Ia. - Funeral services for Mrs. R.C. Sander, 53, who died at her home here Wednesday, following a year's illness, were held at the Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon. The Rev. August Grossheim, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the nearby cemetery.
Casketbearers wee Art Sandbeck, Harry Dasher, Alfred Dravis, Guy Mason, Leonard O'Brien, and Grant Clark.
Mrs. Sander was born in Waukon on Oct. 30, 1890, as Edna Herman, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Herman. She was a graduate of Waukon High School, and for some time was an operator for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She later was a bookkeeper for the Eclipse Lumber Company.
She was married to Clem Hoag, of Waukon, on Aug. 15, 1923. Her husband died four years later. On November 18, 1938, she was married to R.C. Sander of Waukon.
Surviving are her husband, a sister, Mrs. James F. Deeny, Waukon; and two nieces, the Misses Nyda May Deeny and Willa Herman. She was preceded in death by a brother.
