Eldo Stopperan
Funeral services for Eldo Stopperan were held Monday, Nov. 18, 1985, 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were Albert Handke, Milton Turner, Gerald Heck, Leonard Oldag, Elden Lenth and Cloy Miller.
Eldo "Jerry" Carl Henry Stopperan, son of Fred and Lena (Brockmeyer) Stopperan was born October 16, 1913 in Allamakee County, Iowa. He died Nov. 14 at Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, WI.
He was baptized December 14, 1913 and confirmed on August 12, 1928 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Jerry attended the Empire School No. 3 (Dresser School). He farmed all his life until he moved to Postville in 1973.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are several cousins: Elmer Brockmeyer, Elmer Luebka, Merle Lubka, Ethel Lampman, Ruby Turner, Helga Smith, all of Postville, Hazel Backhaus of Waukon, Arthur Martens of Ft. Collins, CO, Edward Martens of Cedar Rapids, Milred Martens of Oelwein, Carl Stopperan and Ellen Porter, both of Cresco, and Tina Powers of Waterloo.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church.
