Waukon, Ia. - Funeral services for Mrs. John S. Ryan, 94, were held at St. Patricks Church Monday morning. The Rev. Ernest J. McDonald, pastor officiated. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Mrs. Ryan died at her home Thursday evening after an invalidism of several years.

As Catherine Manning, she was born in Franklin County, New York, April 16, 1850, and came to Iowa with her parents when she was eleven years old. The family settled on a farm near Paint Rock.

On Jan. 5, 1871, she was married to John S. Ryan at Paint Rock Church by the Rev. J. McManus, and they resided on the farm in Jefferson Township until 27 years ago when they retired to Waukon. Mr. Ryan died some years ago.

Mrs. Ryan is survived by three sons, James V., who resided with his mother; Edward, of Jefferson Township and William, of Worthington, Minn. A son, Frank, died a few years ago, and a daughter, Mrs. Charles Keenan, of Waukon, also preceded her in death. There are 15 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
