Verla Mae (Heusman) Wold (10/3/20 - 8/16/03), a long-time resident of the Postville area, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2003, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Verla was the daughter of Roy and Irma Pixler of Postville. She married Elliott Heusman, son of Henry and Melinda Heusman of Postville. The couple farmed in the Postville area until Elliott's death in 1946. Verla moved her family to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1958. Verla is preceded in death by husband Clifford Wold, and, son, Eugene Heusman (1939-2003). She is also preceded in death by a brother Glenn Pixler. She is survived by daughters Shirley Mudd (Cedar Rapids, (IA); Marilyn Schulte (Scottsdale, AZ); Julie Carson (Mission Viejo, CA); twelve grandchildren; and, twelve great-children. A grave-side service will be held for Verla on Monday, August 25, 2003, at 11:00 a.m., at the Postville cemetery. Pastor James Allison of St. Paul Lutheran Church will preside. The family welcomes all who wish to attend.
