James B. Williams 1943-2003

James B. Williams, age 59, of Prairie du Chien and formerly of Harpers Ferry, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at the Prairie Health Care Center following a courageous battle with cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, August 1 at St. Ann's-St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry. Rev. Louis Trzil officiated. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in Prairie du Chien. Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien assisted the family with arrangements. James was born September 21, 1943, in La Crosse, Wis., the son of James and Therese (Livingston) Williams. On October 22, 1980, he married Joan Ingham Seymour in Dubuque, Iowa. James worked at Caterpillar in Aurora, Ill., and later owned and operated Jim's Sport Shop in Harpers Ferry. He was an avid Cubs fan. He is survived by his wife, Joan of Prairie du Chien; a sister, Rita (Dale) Mathis of Harpers Ferry; four step-sons, Bob (Debbie) Seymour of Apple Valley, Minn., Craig (Nancy) Seymour of Stoughton, Wis., Brian Seymour of Prairie du Chien, and Jeffrey Seymour of Duluth, Minn.; a step-daughter, Lisa Seymour of Brainerd, Minn.; nine step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth.
