Ida Carlotte Beaumaster, 95, died Friday, August 1, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Home in Waukon. Funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran Church Tuesday, August 5, by Rev. Lynn Groe, with burial at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Cemetery. Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Ida Carlotte (Gulrud Kolsrud) Beaumaster was born February 7, 1908, in Makee Township of Allamakee County, Iowa, the daughter of John Gulrud and Mary (Moen) Gulrud. Ida grew up in Northeastern Iowa attending the Hanson rural school through the eighth grade. Ida was baptized into the Christian faith March 19, 1908, and confirmed her faith October 1, 1922, at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church. On June 12, 1930, Ida was united in marriage to Dewey Kolsrud at the Old West Paint Creek Church. They were the parents of one son, Carlton John Kolsrud. Carlton died from cancer in 1950 at the age of 19. Ida's husband, Dewey died in 1956. Several years later, Ida married Lloyd Beaumaster and moved to her house on Second Street, where she lived for over 40 years. Her husband died in 1967. Ida worked for over 20 years at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in the nursery taking care of countless babies. She was a volunteer with the RSVP and the Makee Manor Care Facility and sang in the Farm Bureau Women's chorus. Ida was an active member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, singing in the choir both before she was married and after she moved to Waukon. Ida was also active in the women's group and circles. Ida loved to work with her flowers, especially her African Violets. Ida was preceded in death by her two husbands, Dewey Kolsrud and Lloyd Beaumaster; by her son, Carlton; and by her brothers and sisters, Alfred, Norbert, Herbert, Carl, Arthur, Martha, Rubin, and Jeanette. Ida is survived by several nieces and nephews and by one sister-in-law, Alphia Kolsrud of Waukon, besides many other friends and relatives.
