Arnold L. King, 74, of Luana, died Thursday morning, July 31, 2003, at his home of cancer. Funeral services were held Monday, August 4, at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, with Rev. Christopher Staley officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home, Monona, assisted with arrangements. Arnold was born May 4, 1929, in LaCrosse, Wis., to Herman and Minnie (Tribune) King. He attended country school in the New Albin area. He entered the U.S. Army on February 2, 1951, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged January 31, 1953. Arnold was united in marriage to Rachel Milhan on December 11, 1954, in Waukon. They farmed in the Waukon area for many years, and in August of 1992, moved to Luana. Arnold enjoyed crafts, woodworking, camping, site seeing, his family, and spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Rachel of Luana; his children, Arnold (Sherry) King of West Union, Herman (Hilda) King of Marquette, Gary (Sheri) King of McGregor, Randy King of LaCrosse, Wis., Lou Price of McGregor, Edna (Marty) Adam of Monona, and Linda (Scott) Brainard of Luana; eighteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Hemaseth of Cross Plains, Wis., and Leora Wiemerslage, Mabel, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn Shefelbine; and his son, Kevin, on July 4, 2003. Soloist for the ceremony was Jason King. Casketbearers were Tim Price, Jason King, Cody King, Eli Shaw, Brandon Looby, and Nate Ihde. Honorary casketbearers were Jennifer, Rachel, Nicole, Randi, Scott Jr., Shaina, Marty Jr., Kandi, Chasity, Krista, Amanda, Stephanie, Cain, Madison, and Lindsey.
