Cecelia B. Anderson

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 28 for Cecelia B. Anderson, 87, who died Monday, Dec. 25 at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah.

The Rev. Lynn G. Groe conducted services at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Grove, MN with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Cecelia was born October 23, 1908 to Peter and Georgina (Hagen) Vangen. She attended rural Allamakee County schools.

October 29, 1939 Cecelia married John M. Anderson at St. John's Lutheran parsonage. They farmed near Spring Grove, MN until his death in 1972, after which she moved to Waukon.

She was a member of St. john's Lutheran Church and church circle.

She enjoyed music and dancing, and playing cards.

Surviving are a daughter, Virgie Hanson; two sisters, Palma Geving and Ellen Duvel; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Rebecca Vangen, and a brother, Palmer Vangen.

Casket bearers were Everett Kikeby, Roger Hesse, Harley Doerring, Tennis Halvorson, Gary Hesse and Allen Goeke.

Postville Herald newspaper clipping from my mother's obituary collection. Mom did not hand date this clipping so have no idea when Cecelia died.
