Mildred Emma Krousie of Waukon, Iowa died on Monday, January 3, 2005 in the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah, Iowa. Funeral services were held on Friday January 7 at 11 a.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville, Iowa. Mike Vote officiated. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Mildred was born on June 3, 1922 to Louis B. and Minnie Louise (Hanke) Martens, on a farm northeast of Postville. She was baptized on July 12, 1953 as a Jehovah's Witness and attended the rural schools in the Postville area. Following her education she was employed at a motel in Waukon, Iowa. On May 22, 1943, Mildred was married to Robert Wayne Krousie in Monona, Iowa. They became the parents of six children. They farmed with Bob's parents and then moved to a farm north of Monona in 1950.Mildred lived in the Monona, Luana, and Waukon area.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert who died on February 11, 1981; her twin brother Milton Martens, and brothers Calvin, Vernon, and Harlan Martens; two sisters Ruth Klein and Shirley Marsden.

Surviving are her children, Robert Krousie of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Terry and wife Linda Krousie of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, James Krousie of Marion, Iowa, Mike and wife Kathleen Krousie of Monona, Iowa, Barbara and husband Michael Schulte of Manly, Iowa and Kevin and wife Ellen Krousie of Waukon, Iowa; 17 grandchildren: Renee, Robert, Jon, Brenda Lea, Brad, Brian, Tracey, Jason, Alicia, Travis, Nicole, Shannan, Heather, Michael, Stacey, Brandon, Sarah and 19 great-grandchildren: Stephanie, Spenser, Courtney, Camille, Cade, Olivia, Clayton, Ashlyn, Ashley, Chelse, Ericka, Tanner, Allie, Madison, Hunter, Kaylee, Brittany, Lauren and Joel; two sisters, Eileen Klein of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Marian and husband Lloyd Thornton of Elgin, Iowa.

Honorary casket bearer was Curtis Martens. Casket bearers were Ronald Klein, Dale Klein, Wesley Martins, Rick Thornton, Gary Martens, and Dave Marsden.
