Marnetta Snitker
Funeral services for Marnetta Snitker were held Wednesday, October 9, 1996 at 11 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville. The Rev. Wayne Hagen officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangement. Interment was in the Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery, rural Waukon.
Marnetta June Snitker, was born October 8, 1922, near St. Olaf, Iowa. She was the daughter of Oscar R. and Selma Pauline (Wilke) Johnson. Marnetta died Sunday, October 6, 1996 in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville. She was 73.
She was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church at Waukon and attended the rural schools near her home. Marnetta provided housekeeping services for many residents in Waukon and was a housekeeper for the Waukon Theater.
On October 24, 1968 she was married to Roland Snitker at St. John's Lutheran Church, Waukon. After the couple moved to Postville, she was employed at the Postville Bakery for 21 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roland who died October 1, 1971, a brother Marland "Bud" Johnson and Joann and an infant sister, Helen, and brother-in-law, James Bloxham.
Marnetta is survived by her son Darwin Johnson and his wife Carol, two grandchildren, Kira and Kirk Johnson, six brothers, Roger Johnson and his wife, Norma, Dean Johnson and his wife, Delores, Dale Johnson and his wife, Beverly, LaVern Johnson and his wife, Jeanette, Keith Johnson and his wife, Darlene, Dwayne Johnson and his wife, Linda. She is also survived by three sisters, Delores Berg and her husband, Stanley, Norma Bloxham and Dorothy Gress and her husband, Gary. Marnetta is also survived by 26 nephews and 17 nieces.
Casket bearers were Steve Toppel, Randy Bloxham, Darryl Johnson, Charles Berg, Terry Johnson and Virgil Johnson.
