Obituary for Thomas Warren III from Waukon Newspaper Sept. 1969

Last Rites For Thomas Warren

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 1:30 p.m. from Zion reformed United Church of Christ in Waukon for Thomas Warren of Postville, who died Saturday, Sept. 13, in Waukon Veterans Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 11, 1913 in Lansing and was a son of Thomas and Mary Sullivan Warren. He lived in the Waukon area and in Waukegan, Ill., for 20 years. Jan. 22, 1948 he married Gertrude Stock Roth in Waukegan. She survives, as do two children, Richard and Janet, at home; two step daughters, Mrs. Tom (Joan) Boland of Wauwatosa, Wis., and Mrs. Jim (Judith) Baxter of Winfield, Kansas., and four grandchildren. Other survivors are five sisters, Mrs. Jake (Mayme) Moe, Lansiing; Mrs. Dan (Marguerite) Shafer, Spooner, Wis.; Mrs. William (Helen) Kinstler, LaCrosse, Wis.; Mrs. LeRoy (Catherine) Jeglum, Waterville, and Mrs. Fred (Alice) Thornton, Zion, Ill.

Mr. Warren was educated in the Lansing school and was employed as a master mechanic. He was a member of Zion Reformed United Church of Christ in Waukon and of the Moose Lodge and served in World War II.

The Rev. R.G. Beck was the officiating minister and interment was in Oakland cemetery. Valiere Dundee, Jack Halverson, John Gilson, Boyd Jeglum, R.J. Kibby and Harold Evans were the casket bearers. Martin Brothers were in charge of arrangement.
