Obituary from Waukon Republican-Standard Wed. Jan. 11, 1922

MRS. AUGUSTA GOEKE

Mrs. Augusta Goeke, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rueggenmeier, was born March 5, 1868 ** in Ludlow township, Allamakee county and died last Wednesday, January 4th, at the age of fifty-two years and nine months. She had been ailing for more than two years and had undergone two attacks of pneumonia so that she was unable to throw off the same disease when it attacked her only one day before her death. The shock coming to her from the death of her sister, Mrs. Ernest Dillenberg, only two days previous was also a contributing cause to her sudden death.

Deceased was confirmed in the Reform church on March 29th , 1874, and continued a faithful member of that denomination until the end. She is survived by two daughters and three sons, Stella, at home, Mrs. Minnie Kloepping of Lexington, Neb., John ____________ (can't read); Sam on the home farm and George in Waukon. Three children preceded their mother in death, namely Mrs. Lydia Ricker, Mrs. Laura Dundee and Arthur. Eleven grandchildren also, survive, some of whom have made their home with their grandmother in recent years.

The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon from the Reformed church in this city, conducted by Rev. Ernst and burial was made in Oakland cemetery. The funeral service was largely attended by mourning relatives and friends and all of the living children of deceased were present.

**Newspaper lists her birth year as 1868 but it should read 1858.
