I received an email from Laurie, a Knudtson researcher, who believed that Christian was the son of Berndt Knudtson & wife, rather than C.C. Knudtson as printed in the obituary.

Further research (1925 Iowa State census & the obit of Christian's younger brother Louis) confirmed that Christian's parents were Berndt / Bernard Knudtson and his wife Anna Christianson.
