Funeral services for Mrs. John Baeth, 89, were held Sunday afternoon at Schultz Funeral Home. Burial was in the Council Hill Cemetery. She was born in Germany on September 15, 1854, coming to America in September of 1875 with her parents, one sister, and three brothers, all of whom have preceded her in death.

She died December 30, 1943 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Martha Ennullat of Waukon, Iowa. Upon her arrival to America, Johannah Schlueter/Schlitter was employed near Luana, Iowa. In November of 1876, Johannah married John Baeth who passed away in 1927. They spent most of their life on a farm near Monona and the last two years of her life were with her daughter, Martha. Johannah was a member of the Evangelical Church.

She is survived by Mrs. Martha Ennullat of Waukon, Iowa; Mrs. William (Emma) Nagel of Sheldon, Wisconsin; Mrs. Frieda Hanson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Mrs. Herb (Anna) Campbell of Monona; and William Baeth of Monona. There are 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. A son, John Baeth, died when he was 17 years old.

Pallbearers were Theodore, Emil, John, and Albert Schlitter, Mike Jermier, and John Ziegler. Mabel Mae Reidel and David Schlitter provided the music.

Johannah's husband, John Henry Baeth was born March 6, 1843 in Germany and he came to America in 1870. He died April 27, 1927. In the 1900 Iowa Census, Johannah is listed as "Annie". Their children were:
1. Martha Baeth was born April 13, 1878 and died July 9, 1973.
2. Emma Baeth was born October 4, 1880 and died March 22, 1967.
3. John Baeth was born December 3, 1882 and died May 3,1899 or 1900.
4. William "Bill" Baeth, born February 28, 1885 in Linton Township, Allamakee County and died August 13, 1983 at the Guttenberg Care Center. He never married and is buried in the Council Hill Cemetery.
5. Frieda Baeth was born June 5, 1890 and died November 20, 1976 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
6. Anna Baeth was born May 9, 1893 and died April 4, 1983.
