Lorna Schulte, 83, of Postville, Iowa died Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Monticello Nursing Home in Monticello, Iowa. She was born on January 24, 1931 to Elmer and Laura (Krumme) Kugel in rural Waukon, Iowa. Lorna graduated from Waukon High School.

Lorna was united in marriage with James Schulte on November 17, 1962 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Two sons were born to this union, Joseph and Daniel. Lorna was a seamstress when she first came to Postville and she was also a Medical Transcriptionist at the Decorah Hospital for many years. She was named to the “Postville Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame”. Lorna loved to listen and dance to music.

Lorna is survived by her two sons, Joseph Schulte of San Francisco, California and Daniel (Lori) Schulte of Anamosa, Iowa; three grandsons, Nikolaus, Joshua and Kolin Schulte; sisters, Yvonne Brandt of Waukon, Iowa, Janice Listiak of St. Paul, Minnesota and Darlene Gardner of Washington and her brothers, Ronald Kugel of Libertyville, Illinois and Roy Kugel of Jackson Tennessee.

Lorna was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 2012 and her parents.

Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2014 from 4:30 to 8:00 pm with a 7:30 pm Rosary at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Postville, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before mass time at the church on Saturday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 1, 2104 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Postville, Iowa with Rev. Greg Bahl as the Celebrant.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Lycurgus Catholic Cemetery, rural Waukon, Iowa.

Schutte-Grau Funeral home in Postville, Iowa is helping the family with the arrangements.
