Mrs. Charles Bauercamper died at her home in this city New years afternoon. The summons were not unexpected as she had been in failing health for some time. Deceased was born in Schangen (sic), Lippe Detmold, Germany in 1835 (sic), and would have been 84 years old in May. She was married to Charles Bauercamper in 1856 and the next year they came to America, settling in Illinois, where they lived three years. May 5, 1861 the removed to Allamakee county and with their old-time friends, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Flage, now deceased, homesteaded 160 acres of land in Ludlow township. The two families lived together for a number of years and finally Mr. Flage sold his interest to his friend and the farm has ever since remained the Bauercamper family, the youngest son, David residing on it at the present time.

In June 1895, Mr. and Mrs. Bauercamper moved to Waukon and on September 2 , 1899 the husband passed away. To their union were born ten children, two, Mrs. Henry Ludeking and a son John, having preceded the mother in death. The surviving members of the family are Mrs. R. S. Velte, Hebron, Neb.; Charles, Salem, NJ; Mrs. F. G. Lemme, Thompson, Iowa; Mrs. August Pieper, Iowa City; Mrs. A. (sic) Sanderman, Lexington, Neb.; Julius and David, Ludlow township and Miss Carrie at home.
