Mrs. F. Snitker Passes Thursday
Infirmities of old age and heart trouble are fatal to Waukon ladyMrs. Frederick Snitker died Thursday morning at her home on West Main street. She had been ill two months with heart trouble and infirmities of age. She was past 80 years of age.
Mrs. Caroline Snitker was born in Germany September 22, 1854, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pieper. When a child she came to this country with her parents, and they settled on a farm in Ludlow township. On April 1, 1874, she married Fredrick Snitker, and they made their home on their farm in Ludlow. Ten children were born to this union, three of whom preceded their mother in death. Mr. Snitker passed away many years ago. After his death Mrs. Snitker moved to Waukon, which has since been her home.
Those who survive are Mrs. George Ludeking of Waukon; Mrs. Albert Helming, Reuben, Albert and Elmer of Ludlow township; Mrs. Esther Brandt of Winneshiek county, and Mrs. Arthur Schmidt of Union Prairie township.
She is also survived by one sister and brother, Mrs. Henry Fisher of Oxnard, California, and August Pieper of Iowa City.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Zalmona Presbyterian church at Ludlow, conducted by Reverand H. Uhden, and burial was made in the nearby cemetery.
