CASSIDY, RUSSELL, WIEDNER, HOULIHAN, BATES

Lansing, Ia. - Funeral services for Richard Cassidy, 78, were held Friday at Wexford Catholic Church with the Rev. L.P. White officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Cassidy died Tuesday at a LaCrosse hospital where he had been a patient since he fractured his hip in January.

He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cassidy and was born Aug. 27, 1864, in Allamakee County. He was educated in the rural schools and was married Nov. 22, 1892, to Nellie Russell. She died in 1936.

Mr. Cassidy is survived by eight children: Dorothy at home, Mrs. Mel Wiedner and Mrs. Bernard Houlihan, both of Harpers Ferry; Mrs. Edward Bates of Portage, Wis., Ensign Florence Cassidy, U.S. Navy, located in Washington State; Richard of Aberdeen, S.D., Leo of Mataman, N.J. and Russell of Chicago; two brothers, John of Lansing and Thomas of Waukon; and several grandchildren. A son and two sisters also preceded him in death.
