Waukon, Ia.-Special: Military funeral services for Ray Peterson, 39, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Old East Paint Creek Church. The Rev. E. O. Baalson, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the nearby cemetery, with taps sounded by members of the Ralph D. Waters Post of the American Legion.

Casket bearers were Victor Schmeiden, Edward Tolander, Lester Busness, Ray Odegard, Arlie Farason, and Merle Yohe.

Mr. Peterson died in the Hines Veterans’ Hospital where he had been a patient since June 14.

He was born near Waterville on Jan. 19, 1905, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Peterson. He received his education in the Waterville Schools and for several years prior to going into service was a road worker for Allamakee County. In service he was stationed in training camps in the East and West.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Hilda Peterson; two sisters, Ida, at home, and Mrs. Haaken Peterson, of Waterville, and five brothers, Herman, Seimer, and Thomas, all at home, and Carl and Clarence of Waterville.

He was preceded in death by this father.
