This community was saddened on Tuesday evening, Dec. 7th, when the word came that Mrs. P.F. Ryan had passed to her Eternal Home.

Mary Gertrude Fish, daughter of Norman and Johanna Fish, was born March 6, 1876, and lived in this community all her life. For a number of years she taught school in Houston and Allamakee counties. She was married to Patrick Francis Ryan on April 12, 1899. To this union were born 12 children; Leonard, Harold, Gladys, Earl, Lawrence, Mrs. Gilman Beeler (Esther), Mrs. James Donahue (Grace), Mrs. Charles Hartley (Marion) of this community; Mrs. Peter Spinner (Loretta), of Lansing; and Mrs. Leslie Gilbert (Marguerite), of Madison, Wis. Two children, Mary Lucille and Norman, died in infancy. Besides her husband and children she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. T.F. Hannafin of New Albin and Mrs. John Vach, of Chicago, Ill., and nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Ryan was a true example of a Christian wife and mother. She loved her home and family and enjoyed having them around here. She was a good neighbor, a charitable friends, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her and remembered her for good deeds and kindness of heart.

Funeral services were held Friday morning at 9:30 at St. Joseph's Church. The Mass of Requiem was celebrated by Rev. L. Hayes, who gave a very consoling sermon to the bereaved family and friends, and also officiated at the graveside in the New Albin Catholic Cemetery. Mr. D.A. Homes and daughter, Mrs. Raymond Gantenebin, of Lansing, sand the mass and also appropriate hymns.

Mrs. Ryan was organist of St. Joseph's Church for a number of years and was a life long member of the Rosary Society, and the members attended the services in a body. Pall bearers were J.E. Welsh, Ignatius Imhoff, Peter Whalen, Lawrence Carroll, Edward Reburn and Oscar Smerud.
