Funeral services for Mrs. John W. Kelly were held March 17th at 9:00 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church. The Reverend L. Hayes officiated. Mrs. Kelly passed away at St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse, Sunday, March 14th, after a brief illness.

Rose Ella Morgan, daughter of Patrick and Bridget Morgan, was born November 7, 1880, on the home farm in Iowa township. She was married to John W. Kelly on July 16, 1913. They early years of their marriage were spent on a farm in Iowa township, after which they engaged in the restaurant business in New Albin for a number of years.

Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Kelly; Leo of Chicago; Mrs. John W. Montague (Helen) of Champaign, Ill., and Kenneth in the U.S. Navy. Because of delay occasioned in line of duty in receiving the message, it was impossible for Kenneth to attend his mother's funeral, altho he was able to establish telephone contact with his family on Wednesday afternoon from a point on the east coast.

Besides her husband and three children, Mrs. Kelly is survived by tow sisters, Mrs. Herman Barensheer (Mary) of Pasadena, Calif.; Mrs. Lawrence De Arton (Alice) of Maza, North Dakota, and one brother, Barney, of New Albin. Her parents and two sisters, Agnes, who died in infancy, and Mrs. Ben Hitchens, preceded her in death.

Two nephews, James and Clem Hitchens of New Albin, and a niece, Sister Mary Adorine of Winner, S.D., orphaned in childhood, had from Mrs. Kelly the loving interest and inspiration that a mother's influence supplies.

Mrs. Kelly died fortified by the last rites of the Roman Catholic Church of which she was a devout member. She was also an active member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Rosary Society.

Casket bearers were the following: Joe Burke, Albert Meyer, John Kerrigan, John Higgins, Will Bakewell and George May. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were Mrs. L. De Arton, Maza, N.D.; John Kerrigan of La Crosse; Mr. and Mrs. John Montague of Champaign, Ill.; Leo of Chicago; Gladys Coughlin and Elizabeth Kerrigan of Milwaukee.
