New Albin relatives and friends were shocked and saddened Saturday last by a message announcing the death of Norbert G. Reburn, 45, who passed away at Finley Hospital, Dubuque, Friday evening, July 14th, at 8:15 o'clock, following a several weeks illness.

Deceased was born Aug. 23, 1898, in New Albin, a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Reburn. He received his education in the New Albin public school and was a graduate of the Davenport Barber School with the class of 1915. He operated a barber shop here for 4 years. He went to Dubuque 26 years ago and on June 1, 1921 was married to Ebba Nelson at St. Raphael's Cathedral. He has been employed at the Deluxe Barber Shop in Dubuque and was affiliated with the Barbers Union. Deceased was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of that parish.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Pfc. Norbert Reburn Jr., U.S. Army, stationed in Hawaii, and Pvt. Byron Reburn, U.S. Army stationed at Camp Maxey, Texas; his mother, Mrs. Edith Reburn, New Albin; three brothers, Victor of Clinton, Ia., Allan of Harmony, Minn., and Cpl. Roger Reburn, U.S. Army at Camp Davis, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Ed. (Jane) Kubitz, Waukon, and Mrs. Fred (Rita) Schuster, of Gary, Ind. He was preceded in death by his father in 1940, one sister, Lucille, in 1913, and one brother, Warren, in 1942.

"Beanie" Reburn as he was known to all his friends here was a very likeable young man and his death caused a wave of sorrow to spread over his home community.

The remains were brought here on Monday morning and the funeral was held from the home of his mother, Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Joseph's Church, with the Rev. L. Hayes officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery west of town. Casket bearers were Miles Tippery, John Kroaack, H.C. Dierksen, A.G. Meyer, Ronald May and Don Thomson.

Relatives and friends from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Victor Reburn and family, Clinton, Ia.; Allan Reburn, harmony, Minn.; Cpl. Roger Reburn of Camp Davis, N.C., and his wife of Cresco; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kubitz and family, Waukon; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schuster, Gary, Ind.; Mrs. Glenn KIngsbury, Wood, S. Dak.; Gus Nelson, Adrian, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Arnest Lennox and family, La Crosse, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Ed McGrath, Forest Park, Ill.

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to our relatives, friends and neighbors for their kind assistance and expressions of sympathy extended us during our recent bereavement, the illness and death of our beloved husband, father and son, Norbert Reburn.
