Postville Review, Friday, 1 June 1917.

Marie Folz was born May 1, 1825, in Meitzweller, Germany. At the age of ten years she came with her parents to America and settled in Dansville, New York. November 11, 1844, she was married to Daniel Lukenbill. Eleven children were born to this union, of which three daughters and four sons survive her. Her husband died Jan. 27, 1907. She was a member of the Evangelican Lutheran church.

Her life was spent mainly in her home and consequently her family knew best her worth. From them and my own observations in the home I have learned somewhat of the remarkable patience of our departed friend. An invalid for many years, she remained cheerful and pleasant in her disposition, something worth remembering by those who knew her. In the school of affliction she was thoroughly tried and not found wanting. Surely the loving care which she received was not in vain.

The funeral, in charge of Rev. P. M. Phillips, was held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Newton Harvey, in Postville, Iowa, where she died on the evening of May 24, 1917. The burial was in Postville cemetery.
