Henry Hager Sr. died at his home in Frankville, Dec. 7, 1923, aged 70 years, two months and three days. He was born in Lippe Detmoldt, Germany, Oct. 4, 1853. At the age of 13 years he came to America, making his home in Allamakee county until 1914 when he moved to Frankville. He was united in marriage with Sophia Grotegut in 1882. To this union was born twelve children, one dying in infancy: Henry; Fred; William; Otto; John, who died Oct. 31, 1912; Eddie and Elmer living at home; Mrs. Herman Nolting; Mrs. Albert Henning; Mrs. Earl Livingood and Mrs. Melvin Ewing, who with the mother are left to mourn the loss of a devoted father and husband. Two sisters and 18 grandchildren also survive.
