Wm. Duffy Jr.

William C. Duffy Jr. was born Aug. 7, 1918 in Waukon to William C. Duffy Sr. and Lorretta (Henry) Duffy. He attended rural Dorchester area schools and Sept. 11, 1942 married Norma Lena Kostman in Waukon.

He served in the Army during World War II and saw some duty in the Philippines. He was a lifetime Allamakee County resident and had been employed by Clarence Russell construction.

William died Wednesday, July 29, 1992 in Veterand Memorial Hospital at the age of 73.

Surviving are three sons and their wives, James and Marcia of Lawler, Vincent and Linda of Berlin, Wi, and Daniel and Deb of Clinton; two daughters, Betty Ann (Mrs. Wendell) Wagner of Dike and Maxine (Mrs. Henry) Acosta of Rolling Meadows, Il; four brothers, Milton of Houston, Mn, George and Charles of Waukon, and Joseph of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Delora Duffy and Marjorie Duffy of Waukon and Veronica (Mrs. Howard) Ingles of Stockton, Ca.; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, who died Feb. 11, 1974, and a sister, Mary Francis Duffy.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1 at Martin Funeral Chapel with the Rt. Rev. Monsignor Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery with military graveside rites by Waukon veterans.

Casket bearers were Andrew Acosta, Jayson Duffy, Jim Evans, Scott Duffy, James Duffy and Jay Duffy.
