Rites for Mrs. Joseph Henry

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 18, at 1:30 p.m. From St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Waukon for Mrs. Joseph Henry, 72, of Waukon. The Rev. Leonard Root will officiate and interment will be in Oakland cemetery. Clifford and Harris Gruber, Clem Colsch, LeRoy Svebakken, Merle Lubka and LeRoy Colsch will be pallbearers. Martin Brothers is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Henry, who had been in ill health for the past five years, died Monday, May 15, in Waukon Veterans Memorial hospital.

Julia Ann Colsch was born Jan. 2, 1895 in New Albin and was a daughter of Nicholas and Louise Teff Colsch. She was educated in the local schools and Feb. 23, 1916 married Joseph Henry in New Albin. She lived in Allamakee county all of her lifetime and moved to Waukon in 1920.

Mrs. Henry is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Merle (Rachael) Ruckdaschel, Waukon, and Mrs. Delmar (Joan) Woodley of Spencer, a son Reuben of Waukon, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Two brothers, Charles Colsch of Pontiac, Mich., and George of Waukon, and two sisters, Mrs. Ole (Martha) Erickson of Bremerton, Wash; and Mrs. Josie Gerkey of Waukon also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1964, a daughter, Eva Lou, an infant son, two brothers, Nicholas and Leo, and three sisters, Rose Marie, Lilly and Margaret.

Mrs. Henry was a member of St. Paul’s Methodist church in Waukon.

The death of Mrs. Julia Henry occurred Monday at Veteran's Memorial Hospital, following an illness of long duration.
Julia Ann Henry was born Jan. 2, 1895 in New Albin, a daughter of Nicolas and Louise Teff Colsch. She was married at New Albin on Feb. 23, 1916 to Joseph Henry who passed away in 1964. They moved to Waukon in 1920. Survivors are the following children: Rachel, Mrs. Merle Ruckdaschel and Rueben Henry, Waukon and Joan, Mrs. Delmar Woodley, Spencer. There are 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, Charles Colsch, Pontiac, Mich., and George Colsch, Waukon; Mrs. Ole Erickson, Bremerton, Wash., and Josie Gerkey, Waukon.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at St. Paul's Methodist Church, 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Leonard Root officiating. Martin Bros. Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
