Services for Lucy Schulte

Lucy G. Schulte, 95 of Harpers Ferry, died Tuesday, Aug. 16 at Thornton Manor in Lansing.

She was born Jan. 20, 1893, in New Albin to George and Louisa Kirk Waters. She married John B. Schulte May 9, 1911 in Dorchester. Lucy was a member of St. Ann’s - St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Harpers Ferry.

Survivors include two sons, Sylvester (Sy) Schulte of Freeport, Il., and Clem Schulte of Harpers Ferry, and a daughter, Lucille Lewis of Harpers Ferry; a brother, Leo Waters of Spring Grove, Mn; a sister, Myrtle Evenmoe of Spring Grove; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchidren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, four sons, William, Lawrence, Norbert and John A.; a daughter, Marcella; and two grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were four sisters, Rose Miles, Pearl Henry, Lillian Henry and Mayme Fink, and two brothers, Ed Waters and George Waters.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 19 at St. Ann’s - St. Joseph’s annex. The Rev.. Duane Raftis officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph’s cemetery. Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 18, with Hanson’s funeral home of Waukon handling the arrangements.

Casket bearers were grandsons Richard Schulte, Dan Schulte, Clem Schulte, Jim Schulte, Jack Schulte and Jon Paul Lewis.
