Wm. Eli Elmore was born in New York City, Oct. 20th, 1834. He came with his parents, one beother and one sister to Indiana, where they lived until 1855 when they moved to Farmersburg, Ia., on a farm. A few years afterward he began work as a tinner for Davis and Rawley.

In 1864 he united with the Methodist church. Feb. 9, 1869, he was married to Martha Jane Jacobs, of Hardin. To this union were born three children, two boys and one daughter. One boy died in infancy. Albert Eugene died June 19, 1897. Since the marriage of his daughter, Clara Lorena, to Andrew Reuss, he has made his home with them. Nov. 4, he fell and broke his leg and on Nov. 26, 1915, his Lord and Master called him to rest. He leaves his wife, daughter and her husband, and three grandchildren. He was a kind husband and father and will be greatly missed. Funeral services were held at his daughter's home in Postville, Iowa, by Rev. P. M. Phillips, assisted by Rev. J. F. Childress, at 11 a.m. on Monday. Interment at Monona, where Rev. J. B. Bird and a number of friends met them on their arrival.
