Jessica Shirley, Lansing, Iowa, February 25, 2013

Jessica C. Shirley, 35, of Lansing, Iowa passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 at her home in Lansing.

Jessica Catherine, the daughter of Stephen and Colleen (Skow) Shirley, was born March 26, 1977 in Libertyville, Illinois. She attended Round Lake High in Round Lake Beach, Illinois and earned her G.E.D. from the College of Lake County in Illinois.

Jessica and her longtime companion, Patrick Rangel, are the parents of 3 children. They lived in Round Lake Beach, Illinois for several years before moving to Lansing, Iowa, three years ago.

Jessica enjoyed taking care of her children and urged her family to gather around the dining room table and talk about their day. She enjoyed talking to her grandmother, Catherine, on the phone, and getting into “cooking wars” with Patrick. She was an excellent cook and her specialty was roasts.

Jessica is survived by her longtime companion, Patrick Rangel, of Lansing; 3 children, Nancy Rangel of Round Lake Beach, Illinois; and Nicholas and Natalie Rangel of Lansing; her twin sister, Justina Shirley of Lansing; nieces and nephews, Johnny and Ciara Anderson, and Erik and Matthew Gonzales; and her sister-in-law, Minerva.

Jessica was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Colleen; one brother, Jace Shirley; and her grandparents.

Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Lansing, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
