Mrs. Carrie L. Franklin died at the home of her son, E. C. Franklin, 263 Western Avenue, where she had resided for the past seven years, early this morning. Mrs. Franklin was recovering from a serious attack of pneumonia. Previous to that she had suffered from organic heart trouble, which, being emphasized by her recent illness, caused her death. A son, Corporal Benjamin Franklin, arrived home last evening from Camp Dodge, where he had been mustered out of the service. Before retiring for the night he had a short visit with his mother. Mrs. Franklin was 53 years of age. Prior to coming to Waterloo she lived in Postville, where burial will be made. Besides the two sons she is survived by a daughter, Lois Goodrich, Denver, Colo. The body was taken to the O'Keefe & Towne mortuary, where brief services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30, prior to taking the body to Postville for burial.- From Waterloo paper of Jan. 9th.

Carrie L. Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Cook, was born in the state of Indiana, on Sept. 29, 1865. She came to Iowa with her parents in 1867, in which state she spent the rest of her life. She leaves to mourn her loss her father and mother, three sisters, two brothers, two daughters, two sons, and two grandchildren, besides many friends here and in Waterloo, where she lived for several years. She died on January 9, 1919, at the age of 53 years, 3 months and 11 days.

The body arrived in Postville last Saturday afternoon and was taken to the home of her parents, where Rev. Hadwin Williams of the M.E. church conducted a brief funeral service, following which the remains were laid to rest in the Minert cemetery.
