John M. Stock

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8 at the Heaton-Westcott Funeral Home, Sioux City, for John M. Stock, 90, who died Tuesday, April 4 at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness. The Rev. William Skinher of the First Presbyterian Church officiated.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 10 at the Frankville cemetery with the Rev. Dick F. Harberts officiating.

Mr. Stock was born July 29, 1887 at St. Clairsville, Ohio. On July 14, 1915, at Postville, he married Mabel Waters, [daughter of Thomas and Belle (Clark) Waters of Frankville]. The couple moved to Sioux City following their marriage.

Mr. Stock was employed as a deputy Woodbury County sheriff under E. G. Gilley until 1918. He was associated with Ryan Real Estate until joining Equitable Life of Iowa in 1922. He retired from his position as a farm loan officer with that company in 1952.

A member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mr. Stock also belonged to Tyrian Lodge 508, A.F.& A.M.; Sioux City Scottish Rite Bodies and Abu Bekr Shrine Temple. He was a former member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include his widow; 2 daughters, Mrs. D. M. (Roberta) Pendleton and Mrs. L. D. (Marian) Cole, both of Sioux City; 5 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
