Andrew Oleson was born near Christiana, Norway, May 14, 1831, and died in Franklin township, Allamakee Co. Iowa, April 23, 1910, aged 78 years, eleven months and nine days. He was married to Bertha Maria Swenson, August 16, 1858. To this union seven children were born, six of whom preceded him to the beyond. He came to the United States in 1890 and settled in Post township, living there until 1893, when he moved to his home in Franklin township, where he lived until his death. He leaves, besides his aged wife, one daughter, Mrs. Mathilda Berg, a brother, Julius Oleson of Post township, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was a member of the Norwegian Lutheran church from his youth. A kind husband and father has passed away. Honest and upright in his dealings, he was well liked and respected by all who knew him, and never, to our knowledge, had an enemy. The funeral was held from the Bethel church Tuesday forenoon, conducted by Rev. Penn of Castalia. Interment in the Minert cemetery.
