Frank Severn

Funeral services for Francis W. "Frank" Severn, 80, were held Wednesday, July 23, 1980 at 1:30 p.m. at Community Presbyterian Church in Postville. The Rev. Dennis E. Morey officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Francis William Severn, son of William C. and Agnes (Bevan) Severn, was born April 23, 1900, at Farley, Iowa. He died July 19, 1980 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Episcopalian Church at Farley and attended school there. March 22, 1924, he was married to Edna Mae Clark at Alton, Illnois. They operated a garage and grocery store at Centralia, Iowa. In 1930 they moved to Postville where he worked for the Iowa Highway Commission until retiring in 1965.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Mrs. Ronald (Luella) Joslyn and Mrs. Harold (Clara) Hinke; and a grandson, Peter Hemesath.

Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Eugene of Levelland, Texas, Allen of Connersville, Ind.; 2 daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Ida Mae) Olson of Postville, and Mrs. Henry (Marilyn) Hemesath of Monona; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph of Manchester, Iowa.

Frank was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, the Senior Citizens, and the Brotherly Love Lodge No. 204 AF and AM of Postville and the Cedar Rapids Consistory. He was very active in the organizations of the community.
