Postville Review, Fri., 2 Sept. 1910. (condensed).
Mrs. Maria Dorthea Christiane Kempke, whose maiden name was Sass, was born in Lubbersdorf, Germany, Sept. 18, 1834, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ernst Groth, near Postville, Aug. 24, 1910. In 1857 (next 8-12 words missing) 10 children, two of whom are living, namely, Fred Kempke and Mrs. Augusta Groth. In 1863 the deceased came with her husband to America, settling in Chicago. In 1867 they moved near Postville. In 1893 Mr. Kempke died. She saw happy and sad days, but in all the dark hours the Word of God was her light. For the past ten years she was nearly blind, and during that time she has lived with her son and daughter.
Her son Fred and wife, her daughter Augusta and husband, and many grandchildren, besides many friends mourn the loss of a faithful, loving mother and true friend.
The funeral was held from the Lutheran church on Saturday last, Rev. R. Kuehne officiating. Interment in the Postville cemetery.

died: 1910 Aug 24 buried Postville Cemetery.In the Woodmansee book the spelling is Kampka.
In the Allamakee Death Records the spelling is Kampka.
There is a obit for a son William Kampka 1870-1898.
They had a son buried in Postville Cemetery as Fred Kamp 1858-1934.
A 1947 Postville obit shows a daughter as Augusta (Kempke) Groth 1868-1947.
Marie's gravestone has the spelling as Kampka.
