Death of Julia Tierney

Miss Julia Tierney who was ailing for a couple of days but not considered serious by her physician, answered the final summons last Wednesday afternoon at her home at 5:30 o'clock.

Miss Julia, daughter of Charles and Anna Tierney, was the first white child born in French Creek township, Dec. 2, 1855, being in her 83rd year at the time of her death; all of her life being spent in this county. She was the oldest of a family of eight children, all of whom have passed away except a sister, Miss Catherine, and a brother, Patrick, who survive to mourn the loss of a devoted sister.

Deceased was educated in the rural school of French Creek and Hanover townships, and moved to Waukon with the family about twenty-five years ago. She was the home maker, modest and unassuming and always ready to do a kind act, a good Christian woman gone to her reward. She will be greatly missed by her sister, they having traveled life's highway together for the past eight years.
