Earl Welsh, 89, of rural Brownsville, Minn., president of the New Albin Savings Bank for many years, died on Saturday, October 1, in a La Crosse hospital.

Welsh was employed at the New Albin Savings Bank for 63 years and was the bank’s president when he retired in January of this year.

He was born on April 10, 1894 in Houston county, Minnesota to Mr. and Mrs. Larry Welsh.

He is survived by his wife, the former Fay Haffa; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Van Cura of Rockford, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Albin. The Rev. Robert Rahe will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, New Albin.

Pallbearers were Dennis Stotesbury, Wilfred Schiltz, Bob Zimmerman, Donald Meiners, Al Lynes and Barry Fruechte.

The Blaschke funeral home of La Crosse was in charge of arrangements.
