Funeral services were held on Friday, June 1 at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church for Edward L. Wild, 94, who died on May 30, 1979, at the Northgate Manor nursing home, where he had resided for several years.

He was born on April 22, 1885 to George and Catherine Frank Wild in French Creek Township in Allamakee County. He was educated in the local schools and was a farmer and saw mill operator.

Mr. Wild was also an avid collector of Indian artifacts and had a large collection of arrow heads and other articles. At one time he owned and operated a museum near the Indian Fish Farm Mounds near New Albin.

He married Maude Piers on May 28, 1912 in Lansing. They spent their entire married life on the farm in French Creek Township, at the foot of the Beetem Hill, until his wife died in 1955, and he then retired from farming.

He is survived by three sons and three daughters: Harris of rural Lansing, Keith of Sorento, Florida, Walter of New Albin, Mrs. Ray (Lorraine) Zezulka and Mrs. Floyd (Florence) Waters, both of New Albin, and Mrs. Dale (Elaine) Reiser of rural Dorchester; 29 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Clara Smerud of New Albin. One child died in infancy. Deceased brothers and sisters are Gene, William, Rose, Louise, Mae, George, Jack, Fred, Elizabeth and Emma.

He was a member of the Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church. Rev. James Parker officiated at the service and burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing. Pallbearers were Floyd Wild, Millard Wild, Delbert Bulman, George Smerud, Milton Wild and Loren Bulman.

Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
