Postville Review, Fri., 25 March 1904.

The people of this community were greatly shocked Monday morning to learn of the death of Mrs. Enos Ervin, at her home on east Tilden street the evening of the previous day about 9:30 o'clock, few if any of our people knowing even of her illness. But it seems that on Saturday last about noon she was afflicted with an attack of neuralgia, to which she has been occassionally subject for several years past. A physician was promptly called who administered the usual potion to allay the pain, and she passed into a drowsy slumber. Nothing was suspected but that she was getting along as well as might be until Mr. Ervin attempted to administer medicine at about nine o'clock Sunday evening, when it was discovered something was wrong. A physician was called posthaste, but his efforts to rouse her were without avail, the disease having attacked her heart, and she passed peacefully away about a half hour later.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother and kind neighbor, and will be missed by many who have known her during her residence of 35 years in Postville. The sympathy of all goes out to the bereaved husband and those that mourn.

Bennett Wells was born at Milford Center, Champion Co., Ohio, March 5, 1852. Was married to Enos Ervin in Postville , Iowa, April 15, 1869, and had resided here continuously since. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, one son, Geo. B. Ervin, of Sioux City, and a daughter, Mrs. Mamie Muchow, of Postville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Thos. Shortreed, of Postville; a stepson, Frank Ervin, of Martinsburg, Neb.; four brothers - N. E. Wells, of North McGregor; D. C. and B. B. Wells, of Minneapolis, and H. H. Wells, of LeRoy, Minn.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon, March 23rd, from the M.E. church, of which the deceased had long been a regular attendant, Rev. W. W. Robinson officiating, and was largely attended. Interment in the Postville cemetery.
