Frederick Henry Heusman was born at Guttenberg, Iowa, 28 Feb. 1891, and passed away at his home near Postville, Iowa, on Monday, 4 May 1931, aged 40 years, 2 months and 4 days. He was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Heusman, was baptized at St. John's Lutheran church at Guttenberg, 19 Apr. 1891, confirmed in the German Lutheran church of El Reno, Okla., 24 Mar. 1907. The Huesman family left this area, and after a brief residence in the western part of Iowa, moved to El Reno, Okla., where Fred grew to manhood. At 18 years of age Fred returned to his native state, again settling in this section of Iowa, having chosen farming as his occupation

On 7 Nov. 1916, he was married to Miss Melinda Meyer, of Postville, at St. Paul's Lutheran church. For 3 years they lived on a farm south of Postville, then moving one mile east of Postville, where they have since lived. Two sons were born to them, Elliot and LaVern, the latter passing away in early childhood.

He was a loving and kind husband and father, deeply mourned by his wife and remaing son. Besides these he is survived by his parents; four brothers, William, Albert, August and Henry, all of Geary, Okla.; and one sister, Mrs. Anna Leck, of Calumet, Okla.

He was of firm faith and christian character, an ideal friend and neighbor, and their is genuine sorrow in the hearts of all who knew him.

The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city, Rev. R. B. Garten officiating. Interment in Postville cemetery.
