Barbara Henderson was born 13 Jan. 1823, in the town of Old Deer, Scotland, and at an early day came with her parents to Roscoe, IL. She was married to George Kerr at Winneago, IL, 10 Feb. 1848. To this union were born seven children, four of whom survive her, also 21 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Kerr came to Iowa in 1852, and with diligence and perserverance succeeded in making a comfortable home on Henderson Prairie. They moved to Postville in 1890, where she lived a quiet retired life with her daughter Alice. One brother, Alexander, out of five, survives her.

The funeral was held from the Congregational church Friday afternoon, Rev. F. W. Pease officiating.

Note: Barbara Kerr is buried in area C of Postville cemetery, as is her husband.
