Prudence May Jones was born June 24, 1884, on a farm near Rossville, in Allamakee county, Iowa, in which community her whole life was lived.

On November 12, 1902, she married Jesse Calvin. This union was blessed by one daughter, who is now Mrs. Ed Fish of Waukon.

On June 12, 1908, Mrs. Calvin married Lafe Ewing. To them two children were born, Miss Effie and Egbert.

For some time Mrs. Ewing had not been well and she spent the past two weeks at the home of her mother, Mrs. W. D. Gould of Postville. Last Friday evening she suffered a paralytic stroke and she past away at 9:20 o'clock the following evening.

Mrs. Ewing was a good and kind wife and mother. She was patient in suffering and always had a smile for her loved ones and friends.

She is survived by her husband and three children; by her mother, Mrs. W. D. Gould; a brother, Ed Jones of Postville; and a sister, Mrs. Eliza Budahl of Waukon.

The funeral was held from the Community church in this city on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. R. F. Galloway officiating.

The following out-of-town relatives were here to attend the funeral: Edward Pettit, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Pettit, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Crady, of Mason City; Rufus Ewing, Mr. and Mrs. Egbert Paul, of Manley; Mr and Mrs. James Ewing, Dorchester.
