A message to A. L. Chamberlain of this city received last Sunday morning, conveyed the sad but not wholly unexpected news that W. C. McNeil, a former highly respected Postville resident, had passed away on Saturday morning in a hospital in Los Angeles, Calif., where some weeks before he had submitted to a serious surgical operation. Mr. McNeil was well advanced in years, being in his eighties.

The body will be placed in a vault until about the first of June when the remains will be shipped to Monona for interment, due notice of which will be given in a later issue.

The sympathy of many friends of the family goes out to them in full measure.

Shortly after the receipt of the news in Postville the trustees of the Postville Community church of this city, of which Mr. McNeil was a strong supporter, sent the following message of condolence to Mrs. McNeil in Pasadena, the family home: "Please accept our sympathy in the loss of one who was our friend in time of need."
