Charles F. J. Christ Wegner was born Nov. 12, 1847, in Eldena, Mecklenberg, Germany, and came to Postville with his parents in 1867, where they resided on the present Baily farm. In 1878 his father owned another farm which Chas Wegner took possession of. In the same year he was married to Miss Christine Niese, which marriage was blest by six children - Charles, Emma, Ida, Anna, Clara and Mary, who with his wife and three sisters survive him.

The funeral was held from the Lutheran church in this city last Saturday at 2 o'clock p.m., and was the most largely attended funeral that has been held here in many years, and fully attested the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Rev. Bookelman conducted the services, speaking both in German and English. Interment in the Postville cemetery.
