Henry Block Dies Suddenly

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville for Henry W. Block, 72, who passed away suddenly Saturday of a heart attack.

Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor of St. Paul's officiated. Burial was in Postville cemetery.

Henry William Block, the son of Henry and Ernestive (Duwe) Block, was born in Clayton county on March 15, 1881. He passed away suddenly on November 28, 1953 of a heart attack. Mr. Block was 72 years, eight months and 13 days old.

Mr. Block was baptized on April 30, 1881 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Guttenberg and confirmed on April 7, 1895 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Postville. He was an active member of the church here for over 18 years.

He was united in marriage on December 6, 1904 to Elizabeth Harnack. To this union was born 3 children, Lawrence, Emil and Esther (Mrs. Gilbert Meyer).

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Emil and Lawrence, and one daughter, Esther, all of Postville; and one brother, Fred of Postville.
