Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 31, 1972, at St. Paul Lutheran church for Mrs. Henry (Elizabeth) Block, 86. The Rev. Norman Ullestad officiated and burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

She died at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, Friday, January 28.

Elizabeth Harnack, daughter of Joachim and Caroline (Schmidt) Harnack, was born July 8, 1885 in Clayton Center, baptized Sept. 26, 1886 and confirmed into St. Paul Lutheran Church March 26, 1899.

She was united in marriage to Henry W. Block, December 6, 1904, and they had 3 children. They farmed in Clayton county until 1932 when they moved to Postville.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Lawrence; a grandson, Lyle; 4 sisters, Mrs. Annie Mohs, Mrs. Emma Eberling, Mrs. Laura Schmidt, and Mrs. Lena Sebastian; 6 brothers, Fred, Christ, John, Joe, Lester and Louis.

Survivors include a son, Emil of Cudahy, Calif.; and a daughter, Mrs. Gilbert (Esther) Meyer of Postville; 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
