Gardner Boynton was born in Stanford county, Province of Quebec, Canada, March 21st, 1824, and died of pneumonia in Postville, Iowa, Sunday morning, Oct. 22nd, 1899, aged 75 years, 7 months and 2 days.

Oct. 14th, 1847, he was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Taylor and for more than half a century they have walked most happily together along the path of life. Four children were born to them, only one of whom is living - Mrs. W. S. Carbee, of this city. Mr. Boynton removed from Canada to Iowa in 1885 and since that time has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Carbee.

He was a kind and devoted husband and father, upright and honorable in his dealings with his fellows, firm and unswerving in his views of what he believed to be right.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. Barton. The body was laid to rest in the Postville cemetery. The pall bearers were Hiram Dresser, Francis Dresser, Alonzo Dresser, Wilber Dresser and J. M. Harris, and were selected by the deceased previous to his death. The aged wife and daughter have the sympathy of their many friends in there bereavement.
